How it works As a Grad within Human Resources you’ll have the opportunity to rotate through different teams to build your experience and grow your network. A Grad will complete three rotations across the HR business that align with their interests and skill set, while giving them a truly diverse experience across the multitude of roles that are available in Human Resources. In the past, our Grads’ exposure has ranged from supporting employees with HR policy advice to helping launch an employee self-service portal; contributing to our HR teams in a meaningful way, by assisting with projects and work output; contributing to the research, strategy and initiatives behind our 2017 vision to developing websites, social media strategies and brand campaigns to attract new employees and build engagement with existing employees; and shadowing senior leaders, which provided the opportunity to participate in associated workshops, training and summits. Participating in extra-curricular groups such as The Youth Network and community initiatives, including graduate committees, is also all part of the Grad experience.

Don’t just believe us, hear from our recent graduate. Brandon, Human Resources Graduate Degree: Bachelor of Secondary Education What is something you didn't expect to get involved in during your program? During my second rotation, I was lucky enough to play a major role in the delivery of Westpac’s new approach to performance and reward called Motivate. This was a huge Group wide change initiative, which enabled me to not only meet but work with a large variety of Senior HR stakeholders and Business leaders. The project’s aim was to shift our organisation’s perception of performance by reinforcing the idea that ‘how’ you deliver is just as important as ‘what’ you deliver. I am incredibly proud to see that Motivate has become such an important part of Westpac today and is one of my major achievements of the Graduate program. What is one thing you love about Westpac? One thing I genuinely love about Westpac is the culture and its people. Everyone is incredibly kind and willing to share information and time with you. Our Service Promise and five core values is something that Westpac truly embraces, and you can really see it every day.
