Meet Justin, 2016 Graduate
Multi-brand Retail & Business Banking
What attracted you to this Program?
The learning opportunities of a grad role at Westpac, coupled with the flexibility and culture of the Group, drew me to the program. I felt it would provide me with great exposure to different areas of the bank and help me establish a great foundation to begin my career.
Why would you recommend this graduate program?
Whether or not you know exactly what role you hope to end up in later on, this program will allow you to learn about a variety of areas across both the Consumer Bank and Business Bank. You’ll meet so many people who will be more than willing to help you achieve your goals.
The diversity of offerings within the program really appealed to me. I’ve been able to experience the front line of the bank in branches and commercial centres, while also gaining exposure to head office roles such as Product and even spending a few months with part of the St. George Leadership Team.
What rotations have you experienced?
I started off in the Westpac Retail space shadowing a Regional General Manager and gaining an understanding of the 15 branches that they oversaw. The next rotation involved working directly with the St. George Head of Metro NSW who drives the strategy and success of the business in this portion of the state. My final rotation has been in Commercial Banking, where I’ve learnt about how we service our business customers across several different industries.
Why do you love coming into work each day?
Throughout all of my varying rotations, the one thing that has remained constant is that the people have been amazing, which has made coming to work each day really enjoyable. I’ve met and developed friendships with people from different backgrounds and levels of experience, who have all been incredibly caring and supportive.
