You've probably heard of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, but did you know that's just
one of many ideas we've launched to help our
local community?

We have a long history of rolling up our sleeves to build sustainable local communities. If you’d like to do more to help your local community, join us and get involved in programs
such as:

  • Matching Gifts we match every dollar our employees donate to a registered Australian charity, we’ve given more than $46 million to 1,820 charities since launching in 1998.
  • The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service,
  • Natural Disaster Relief Fund –personalised assistance and disaster relief packages plus donations, community grants and mentoring support.
  • Supported volunteering opportunities –use your Community Leave to spend time away from the office volunteering
  • CareerTrackers Indigenous careers partner – we are committed to recruiting at least 40 Indigenous interns each year for the next 20 years
  • Some of our other community and sustainability programs include Indigenous community secondment opportunities, the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation, and the Westpac Foundation.

Not many companies can claim a history as long as Westpac Group’s. In 2017 we will celebrate 200 years. But no other culture has a history as long as Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We acknowledge our responsibility in assisting Australia’s first people in building their lives based on traditions, memories, culture, hope and aspiration. We are committed to creating a better future for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. By recognising the past and investing in the future we can help to shape a nation in which Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians share social and financial equity.

Our goal is to build a diverse workforce of amazing talent which means that when you work with us, you can be sure we’ll commit ourselves to helping you take your career as far as possible. We offer a series of opportunities for talented Indigenous Australians depending on their career stage and aspirations. Whether you join us as a graduate, intern or a trainee we are here to help you succeed by providing support and structured development you need at every stop.

Benjamin Eisikovich
Job title: Graduate – Finance & Accounting
Mob: Kamilaroi

What does your role involve?

“The Finance and Accounting graduate program is a two year program which gives me the opportunity to explore various different areas to widely develop my skills. I have worked in 2 group functions - Global Shared Services - Finance and Accounting & Group Capital.”

Why did you choose Westpac?

“I wanted to work for a company that continually reinvents it operations whilst still being compassionate and committed to improving the quality of life for all Australians. Also, I believe Westpac breaks the stereotypes of the banking industry: for example our support of Woman in leadership.”

Do you have any advice for other students?

“Be brave and put yourself out there – you never know where it could take you. Make the most of your opportunities and get involved with the community initiatives that are available.”

What are some of the highlights or interesting stories from your career?

“I really enjoyed the graduate training forums which allowed me to network with the future leaders of Westpac and the training workshops helped me obtain a better understanding of my skills and development journey. I was also very proud to lead my first major project which gave me a taste of where my career could go. Finally, I love that there is always a community initiative happening throughout the business, just waiting for those who want to make a difference.”
